A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a post from Keith Downie after he confirmed that Mike Ashley had spoken to Steve Bruce and the squad to thank them for their efforts this season.
Bruce also confirmed that he had another meeting scheduled with Ashley on Wednesday though he did not say what that was about.
Since then it has emerged that Ashley has cut Newcastle’s transfer budget to £35m, which is £5m less than they spent on Joelinton last summer.
However, it is the post from Downie that has got these Toon fans talking.
Do you think the call was about the takeover?
Yes, hopefully he was saying goodbye
No, probably was just about what Bruce said

Ashley also confirmed to the squad and to Bruce that he was waiting for the Premier League to either approve or reject Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed bid for the Toon.
Newcastle have been waiting on the PL since April, and now Ashley has confirmed that it has nothing to do with him, and it is all down to the Premier League.
However, while all that goes on, Newcastle need to continue to function as a club, and Bruce claims that he has one or two deals ‘bubbling away’.
Downie’s post continued to draw these Newcastle fans.
And tell Bruce he won’t be able to get hold of him till after the transfer window shuts.

Something smells dodgy, can’t imagine Ashley is much of a Zoom man but then again he is known to make an appearance at the end of season games..

Hopefully the final days of Ashley’s ownership and Bruce’s stint as manager

Newcastle are in limbo at the moment, and while the club must try to do things, a budget of £35m is significantly less than some of the sums that were talked about in connection with this takeover.
However, while the Premier League continue to delay their decision, Toon fans might have to just accept that this transfer window might not be the one they had hoped it was going to be.
