In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

On the topic of any potential incoming transfers the club could make this summer, Evans shared some insight into the situation.

He said: “They won’t want to be signing players this season that are going to take a long time to settle in, they’re going to want players that are proven in the Premier League or in the top flight and ready to fit in straight away. I think that Villa will be targeting four or five players in areas of weakness, and I think they’ll go quite big on them. I think they’ll spend quite heavily.”

This season saw Villa spend a total of £143.19 million during the previous summer and winter transfer windows, this includes a club-record transfer fee on Brazilian striker Wesley of £22.5 million.

Villa ended their season in 17th place with 35 points, narrowly avoiding relegation back to the Championship (per BBC Sport).

TIF Thoughts…

It seems as though Evans is pretty certain that Villa will be active in the transfer window this summer and will be looking to bring in some new faces to improve their squad.

Given how much the club spent in the two previous windows and where they ended up in the league table this season, they will need to make sure that whoever they bring in will have an immediate and positive impact on the team so they don’t end up in another relegation battle next season.
