On a special bonus episode of the Extra Inch Podcast, Chris Miller talked with Josh King, host of ‘We Are Tottenham TV’, about the latest goings-on at the north London club.

On the podcast, which was titled: ‘Bonus Episode: Josh King (Not That One)‘, King expressed his concerns about Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and his future under Jose Mourinho. The club-record signing is yet to start a game for Spurs since the restart and has been linked with a move away from the Lilywhites.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what King had to say about the 23-year-old and his relationship with Mourinho:

“As much as a lot of people were slating Ndombele when he came on against Bournemouth, he beat the first man and he tried to put in that final pass.

“A lot of people that are praising Bruno Fernandes – they don’t realise how many of his passes go astray in a game. His pass completion [rate] in the final third isn’t the best, but it’s because he’s trying things.

“And I think it’s becoming apparent now that Mourinho doesn’t like Ndombele because he tries things, that’s what I’m getting worried about. What’s the alternative going to be? Who are we going to get in? Who have we really got the money to go and get in the summer that is going to do both things [beating the first man and putting in a final pass] for Mourinho? I’ve got hope that this could work, this Winks-Lo Celso thing, so I think we’re just going to have to cut our losses because it’s becoming apparent that he has no hopes for Ndombele at all.”

TIF Thoughts…

Mourinho confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the French midfielder picked up an injury in training, meaning that he remains a doubt to face Newcastle United on Wednesday. King certainly seems to think that Mourinho has given up on the Frenchman, which seems strange when you consider the work the Portuguese boss was clearly putting into Ndombele during the recent lockdown.

Would you cut your losses on Ndombele?

Yes

No

It would be a shame to see the former Lyon man’s time with Spurs come to an end so soon, but considering the fitness issues that have plagued him throughout the season, perhaps the Lilywhites would be better cashing in on the midfielder while they still can.
