On the latest episode of the Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark and Bardi have been discussing the latest goings-on at the North London club, reacting to the win against Arsenal last weekend, and previewing Wednesday night’s game against Newcastle United.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Mourinho Gonna Mourinho – Winning The NLD‘, was the future of Jack Clarke.

The winger was signed from Leeds United last summer and immediately sent back on loan to the Championship side (per BBC) but he failed to make a single start in the league for the Whites.

He was then recalled and sent to QPR in January, where he has experienced a similarly disappointing time, making just six appearances from the bench (per WhoScored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Miller had to say about the 19-year-old:

“I actually think Clarke just needs to go on loan to a League One club next year and then go from there, and just play 40 games and see what happens. I really like Clarke, it’s such a shame that he’s wasted the season, because he’s got real potential.”

TIF Thoughts…

Clarke’s lack of appearances with both Leeds and QPR suggests that he is perhaps not ready for regular Championship football, and needs a loan at a League One club where he might get more regular football, as to ensure that his development is not stifled too much.

Does Jack Clarke have a future at Spurs?

Considering the youngster was reportedly signed for around £10 million, Spurs will no doubt be desperate to see him progress and as Miller suggests, this season has been something of a waste for the 19-year-old, so hopefully next season he will enjoy a more successful loan and allow Lilywhites fans to see why he was brought in.
