Supporters of Newcastle United have been reacting to an injury update on Andy Carroll which was posted to social media.
On Tuesday, The Chronicle posted a link to an article on their website which gave an update on the 31-year-old striker.
According to the report, the Englishman is likely to miss the Toon’s upcoming clash with Tottenham Hotspur and will be ‘touch and go’ for the club’s trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The article also quoted Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce as saying: “I don’t think Andy will make it”, in terms of his fitness for the next match.
This had lots of Newcastle supporters flocking to the update to air their views on Carroll’s potential absence for the Toon’s next two fixtures.

And we’ve extended his contract. Waste of a squad number man.

Soon as he gets a new contract he’s off injured ?

As stated by these two Newcastle supporters, Carroll recently put pen to paper on a one-year extension to his contract at St. James’ Park (per BBC).
Was it a mistake for the club to extend Andy Carroll's contract for another year?
Yes, we shouldn't have
No, it was worth it
Odds on him not playing another minute this season?

It is a bigger story when Carroll isn’t injured. Beggars belief that we’ve given him a new contract, waste of a squad number next season

This season, the 31-year-old forward has made a total of 17 Premier League appearances for the Magpies in which he has scored no goals and bagged four assists (per WhoScored).

As can be seen in these responses from Newcastle supporters, they were left rueing the fact that the forward was recently given a contract extension at St. James’ Park.
