On a recent edition of Tottenham Hotspur-focused podcast ‘The Extra Inch’, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark, and @BardiTFC discussed Maurizio Pochettino, the 19-year-old son of ex-Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, and his decision to sign a contract renewal with the North London club.

The 19-year-old Tottenham winger recently made a post on his Instagram account where he shared two pictures of himself signing his new Spurs contract, one of which included his father, who was sacked by the North London club back in November 2019, under six months after the Argentinian coach and his Tottenham side competed in the 2019 UEFA Champions League final

Miller brought up the topic of the young winger’s contract renewal during this recent episode of The Extra Inch podcast, stating that: (28:14) “We had some news about our young players this week because the Premier League’s ‘released’ and ‘retained’ lists were published and one of the bits of news within this is that Maurizio Pochettino has been given a new contract and what emerged today on social media was pictures of his proud dad with his arms around his son – still wearing Spurs clobber.”

@BardiTFC was then asked for his thoughts on this development and the images that emerged of the two Pochettino’s together and he responded to Miller by saying: (30:14) “I found it a little bit weird that you’re still wearing the clothes of your former employer. At least we’ll get to sing the song, maybe, one day when Maurizio starts making first-team appearances and maybe he’ll be magic, he could be great.”

TIF Thoughts…

The ex-Tottenham manager was wearing a Spurs-branded t-shirt in the image of the pair that his son posted to social media, however, while @BardiTFC states that he found this ‘weird’, the Argentinian may have just been showing some support for his son, which may be commendable, considering that the club sacked him back in November.
