On the latest episode of the Tifo Football Podcast for The Athletic, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Joe Devine and Alex Stewart have been talking about some of the latest goings-on in the Premier League, including a discussion of Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho, and where his next job might be.

The Portuguese manager was appointed as Spurs boss in November of last year but with the Lilywhites struggling in the league, and looking unlikely to be playing Champions League football next season, there was already a discussion amongst those on the podcast as to where the 57-year-old might end up next.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Devine had to say about where he thinks Mourinho could end up next:

“Something where he is more in charge of a whole program of football and is ‘the man’ in that particular area. Something that bluntly appeals to his ego, but I would say yes, the Portuguese national team is the most likely destination.”

TIF Thoughts…

The former Real Madrid boss rarely spends more than three years with a single club, but has regularly delivered trophies during his career, which is arguably his primary purpose as Spurs manager, considering the Lilywhites’ last trophy came in 2008. Mourinho is yet to take charge of a national team in his career thus far and considering he has already managed the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Inter (per Transfermarkt), perhaps we won’t see him take another job in club football following his time with the Lilywhites.

Can you see Mourinho managing Portugal?

The manager has certainly expressed an interest in the Portuguese national role in the past, so perhaps we will see him take charge of A Seleção in the not too distant future.
