The Athletic journalist Greg O’Keeffe has aired his belief that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has got ‘a big job on his hands’ at Goodison Park.

During his managerial career, the Italian gaffer has been at the helm of clubs such as Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich.

Not only has he managed all of those big-name clubs, but he has also been successful, accruing 19 pieces of silverware during his career (per Transfermarkt).

However, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s Gwlad Tidings podcast, O’Keeffe aired what a ‘big job’ he believes the 61-year-old manager has on his hands with the Toffees.

To start this quiz on Richarlison with an easy one, how much did the Toffees pay to secure the Brazilian's services including potential future fees?

He said: “It will have possibly even shocked and surprised Ancelotti at the extent of the problems. Football’s different, isn’t it? It might be in some cases difficult to summon the intensity required, but I don’t think that’s an excuse from any quarters.

“There are clubs out there, like Wolves, who might think they’ve got more to play for, but Everton supposedly had European football to play for. Ancelotti says in hindsight, he doubts his players believed it. Well, again, that’s just not good enough.

“That’s not just a personnel reboot that might be required, but it’s a mentality reboot. So, he’s got a big job on his hands. I think maybe the full extent of that is dawning on him.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, it seems like a very damning assessment of the shape that the Goodison Park club is currently in.

However, you would hope that after the illustrious managerial career that the Italian has had in football, he would have the abilities to turn Everton’s fortunes around.
