On the latest episode of The View From The Lane, a Tottenham Hotspur podcast for The Athletic, Jack Pitt-Brooke, James Maw and Charlie Eccleshare have been discussing the latest goings-on at the North London club, and looking ahead to the game against Sheffield United.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Could Dier and Ndombele go?‘ was the future of the French midfielder. The 23-year-old, who joined Spurs for a club-record fee last summer, has been left on the bench for both of Spurs’ first two fixtures since the Premier League restart and it has subsequently been reported that he feels his relationship with Jose Mourinho has broken down as a result.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Eccleshare had to say about the former Lyon man:

Do you think that Ndombele deserves to start, even if he isn't working hard enough?

Yes

Yes

No

No

“So it’s pretty difficult, he’s not playing, he wants to be playing, there are suggestions as well from people in the dressing room that maybe he’s not working hard enough.

“There are so many facets to this story and, and I know there are probably some fans who are tiring of it and just want a resolution one way or another, but I don’t think they’re necessarily going to get that because it is always going to be a big talking point when your record signing, and someone who’s getting your top wages, isn’t playing matches.

“So, it is gonna run until he starts playing regularly and [I] just don’t know if that’s going to happen anytime soon.”

TIF Thoughts…

If Ndombele truly isn’t working hard enough in training, then you can’t really blame Mourinho for leaving him on the bench. The Lilywhites have three games in a week, starting with the fixture away at Sheffield United on Thursday (per Sky Sports), so you would imagine that we will see some changes in Mourinho’s side between those games, and perhaps the French international will finally be given a chance to show what he can do.
