Kris Wallace from the Gallowgate Shots YouTube channel recently featured as a guest on the Last Word On Spurs podcast, previewing the Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur fixture that is set to take place on Wednesday.
During his match preview, Wallace was extremely complimentary about Allan Saint-Maximin, which is perhaps unsurprising, when you consider that the French winger has comfortably been Newcastle’s best performer in the Premier League so far this season; having averaged a superb 7.29 rating (per WhoScored).
Here’s what the Toon fan had to say about the 23-year-old winger ahead of the clash with Spurs:
“Of course, we’ve got the threat of [Miguel] Almiron and Saint-Maximin. Saint-Maximin is an absolutely fantastic player and if he’s [at the] top of his game, he can run at any defence and worry them. That’s probably our biggest asset right now. If Saint is at the top of his game, he’ll easily take two/three players out of a game, because they’ll be too worried about what he’s going to do, they won’t want him getting anywhere near the box.”

Saint-Maximin has especially dazzled since the restart, producing excellent displays against Sheffield United, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth in particular. Whether he can do the same against a Spurs side that have been impressive at the back since the restart, with three clean sheets to their name, remains to be seen.

Wallace has clearly suggested that the former Nice man will be the danger man against Spurs on Wednesday, so it will be interesting to see if he can inspire the Toon to a win against Jose Mourinho’s side later this week.
