Newcastle legend Malcolm Macdonald has been speaking on a recent episode of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith and John Gibson about the club’s proposed takeover.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Macdonald discussed various topics relating to Newcastle and spent a bit of time on the proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium.

The former Newcastle striker issued a claim on when he thinks the Premier League will make a decision on whether the takeover will be passed.

Here is what he had to say on the takeover, while discussing the possible departures of a few Newcastle players:

“I am sure the takeover is going to happen, and it will all happen within the next week or so.

“So, I personally can’t see the [Mike] Ashley people making any bold moves in any way in the transfer market – either buying or selling.”

Macdonald has made a bold prediction for this takeover situation, and we will have to wait and see if he is right.

Do you think Macdonald will be right?

TIF Thoughts…

Newcastle have been embroiled in this saga since April when the Premier League received the deal from Staveley’s consortium and began the required checks.

The buyers were told these could take up to four weeks, but here we are near the end of July with the transfer window open, and the PL has still not made a decision.

Macdonald has stuck his neck out and thinks that it will all be resolved by the end of the week, but the likes of Richard Keys and Neil Custis have been wrong with their takeover predictions in the past, so it remains to be seen if Macdonald will also be wrong.
