Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to George Caulkin’s Twitter post with regards to the proposed takeover of the club.

It was reported earlier this week that the process had hit another ‘major stumbling block’ after the Saudi Arabian government banned the Premier League’s official broadcaster in the region, BeIN Sports (via TalkSPORT).

The Saudi’s said the Qatar-based Premier League rights holders for the Middle East and North Africa region, has ‘had its licence cancelled and been fined £2.1million for abusing its dominant position through several monopolistic practices’.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

Following the recent update, Newcastle fan @SteveAk77 requested an update from Caulkin of The Athletic, to which he responded:

‘I don’t have much to add re takeover Steve. Aside from yesterday’s news – which the bidders weren’t expecting, they say – it’s been very quiet recently.’

Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the post.

Are you confident the takeover will be approved by the Premier League?

No

It is clear from the above responses that some fans remain concerned with regards to whether or not the Premier League will approve the proposed takeover, however, others were more positive, with one fan describing the lack of communication as ‘the calm before the storm’.

Newcastle were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night despite Matt Ritchie cancelling out Son Heung-Min’s opener but unfortunately for Steve Bruce’s side, they were unable to prevent Harry Kane from bagging a brace and ensuring the visitors returned to London with all three points (as per BBC Sport).

The Magpies boss has been quoted recently as saying those within the club “need clarity on the takeover” which is totally understandable given how long the process has taken so far.
