A lot of Newcastle United supporters have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Toon news Twitter account @NUFC360 which states that Human Rights Watch (HRW), who expose human rights abuses around the world according to their Twitter account, and non-profit human rights organisation Fair Square have ‘condemned the planned Saudi takeover of Newcastle United.’

This tweet includes a link to a post from HRW’s official website which states that they previously wrote to Premier League CEO Richard Masters in June, as did Fair Square in April, ‘outlining concerns around the prospective purchase’ of Newcastle United by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund who, as per ChronicleLive, are still waiting for the Premier League’s approval to complete their takeover of the Toon.

This article from HRW’s official website states that Saudi Arabia ‘has faced unprecedented scrutiny over its human rights abuses’ and calls on the Premier League to ‘respect human rights.’

After @NUFC360 shared this news via a tweet, plenty of Toon supporters reacted to this post.

Some Newcastle supporters shared that they just want to know what the future holds for their football club and called on the Premier League to make a decision with regard to whether or not they will approve this takeover bid.

Other Newcastle United fans replied to this tweet to share some uncertainty about what this update could mean for the Toon’s Saudi-backed takeover bid.

Meanwhile, one Toon fan stated that the club’s supporters will ‘just have to ignore’ HRW and Fair Square’s condemnation of the Saudi-backed takeover bid, while another Newcastle supporter shared that they would like to know what HRW think about the Toon’s current owner, Mike Ashley.

Considering that this Toon takeover bid has been going through the Premier League’s checks since April, it may be understandable why some Newcastle supporters replied to this tweet to share that they just want to know what the future holds for their football club, with so much uncertainty existing over the Toon’s future at present.
