Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to a tweet by @NUFC360 in which a report is relayed linking the club with a move for Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona are said to want to offload the Brazilian in an attempt to make funds available for the purchase of Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and they have offered the player to both Newcastle and Arsenal, according to Goal.com.
Coutinho made the move to Spain back in January 2018, having made 152 Premier League appearances, in which he scored 41 goals and provided 37 assists for Liverpool (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the post on social media.
If this lad ends up in black & white make no mistake he’ll be one of the best players we’ve had at #nufc yes Barca move hasn’t worked for him but he’s different class!

Do you think Coutinho would be interested in a move to Newcastle?
Yes
No
Barcelona paid £130.5m to sign the attacking midfielder, but given the fact he was loaned out to Bayern Munich – who decided against taking up their option to buy the player – we believe it’s fair to say Coutinho’s had a difficult time of late. Fans continued to respond to the post and making their feelings known, as one, perhaps jokingly suggested the player would be a good backup for Allan Saint-Maximin.
I guess we need backup for @asaintmaximin next season.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Coutinho is worth £50.4m, which is significantly less than what Barcelona paid for the player, however, the report stresses that the Catalan club are fully aware of the fact they are likely to lose money as they remain desperate to get him off the books, perhaps paving the way for him to return to the Premier League in a cut-price deal.
