A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from the Daily Telegraph regarding Henry Mauriss.
The piece, produced by Luke Edwards, claims that Mauriss believes he is now in pole position to buy the Toon after Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium withdrew their bid.
Edwards claims that this means Mauriss is ready to step in, and this has pleased these Toon fans, who seem open to the idea of Mauriss becoming the club’s new owner.
Do you trust Mauriss?
No, he will be a disaster

The American’s interest in the club emerged in April while a bid was made in June, and now that Staveley’s group have stepped away, Mauriss has a clear run at trying to take the Toon from Mike Ashley.
This has pleased these Toon fans, who just want Ashley gone.
Ashley will be gone this summer. Whoever buys NUFC has got to be better than him. There are interested parties out there with a genuine interest so we need to keep positive.

This’ll test the cans theory out, as supposedly it was to celebrate Ashley leaving…people obviously don’t want him to leave that quick if they’re turning their noses up at other parties. Some of our fans are a complete embarrassment tbh

The deal for Staveley’s consortium to take Newcastle from Ashley was withdrawn on 30th July, with the consortium stating that the time it had taken for the Premier League to reach a decision ultimately led to them withdrawing the bid.
Staveley followed this up with an interview in which she blamed the PL for everything and hinted that she didn’t want to give up.
Ashley also stated, via Lee Charnley, that he was still 100% committed to the Staveley deal, so if Mauriss is serious, now could be his time to make a move.
It will be interesting to see what happens, but for now, we feel bad for the Newcastle fans, who are devastated with recent events.
