Speaking recently on the Football Writers Podcast, Adrian Clarke discussed Wolves’ progress in the Europa League, as well as his belief that the club will keep hold of Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore this summer.

Jimenez and Traore have been two of Wolves’ star players this season, with Jimenez scoring 26 goals and providing 10 assists over his 53 appearances in all competitions, while Traore has got six goals and provided 12 assists over his 52 fixtures in all competitions.

The pair have not only helped Wolves to an impressive seventh-placed finish in the Premier League, but also to reach the round of 16 in the Europa League.

As a result of their fine performances both domestically and in Europe, there have been rumours linking Jimenez and Traore away from the club this summer.

However, when discussing Wolves’ progression in the Europa League and a potential clash against Manchester United in the semi-final of the competition, Clarke suggested that he believes both players will stay at the club beyond this summer.

He said: “Looking at their form, you’re now beginning to question – are they capable of beating Manchester United in the next round, should they make it? Yeah, we don’t know. You’d have to make Manchester United favourites to beat Wolves in that potential clash.

“But it’s been terrific from Wolves and Nuno [Espirito Santo]; his stock continues to rise. The key for them now is keeping hold of Jimenez and Traore, but I don’t sense that they will lose them before next season, I really don’t.”

TIF Thoughts…

As such, while Clarke does not seem to have much faith in Wolves going and meeting Manchester United in a potential quarter-final clash in the Europa League, he appears to have a lot more faith that both Jimenez and Traore will remain at the club next season, which, for a Wolves fan, must be music to your ears.
