Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to a Twitter post by @NUFC360 in which a link to an article from Chronicle Live was shared revealing the club’s ‘would-be owners’ have held two summits.
The report by Mark Douglas and Ciaran Kelly explains that one of the two meetings held was to ‘discuss possible transfer targets’ and the other was to ‘look at current squad options’. It also goes on to say that despite the Premier League having yet to communicate a decision with regards to the ongoing owners’ and directors’ test, the Saudi-backed consortium believe they have answered all the relevant questions.
Here is how a sample of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to the post:
Im sick of these stories, no basis in reality.
Facts are we been told it was iminent for 4 months, wether its the premier league or the saudis fault it hasnt happened and were being told the club is preparing for it not to happen.
Ill believe it when it happens #nufc

It’s clear from the above responses that despite the Chronicle Live’s report, these fans aren’t convinced these meetings have taken place seeing as the prospective owners still don’t know whether they’re going to be allowed to take control of the football club.
Supporters continued to respond to the post, with some keen to express their hope to see Steve Bruce replaced this summer, following suggestions the potential new owners want to speak to the manager on transfer activity at St. James’ Park.
First thing is to get rid of Bruce

If true, we can only take this as a positive sign for the takeover. They wouldn’t be going to such lengths if they were expecting it to fail.

If we keep Bruce we can write off next season

This is positive IMO

Speak to him to get rid of him first I hope.

Bruce’s Newcastle United finished the season in 13th position in the Premier League. Whilst it could be argued the Magpies have had an underwhelming season having spent a combined £55.8m last summer on Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin, at the very least, they have managed to steer well clear of the relegation zone and maintain their top-flight status.
