Chris Knight has been on the latest episode of the Everything is Black and White podcast and has been discussing the future of Danny Rose.

Starting with an easy one, against which club did Shelvey make his Newcastle debut?

The Chronicle reporter spent a bit of time discussing the Toon’s trio of winter loan signings in Nabil Bentaleb, Valentino Lazaro, and Rose.

This led to a discussion on Rose and the fact that he could be staying on Tyneside beyond the end of his loan.

Here is what Knight had to say about the man on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

“I think with Rose, the transfer fees have wildly gone from he could be available on a cheap deal, to Tottenham not letting him go for anything less than I can’t remember the exact fee. [£20m]

“But I think with Rose, I think he’s been fairly solid, and [Steve] Bruce has been pretty consistent in saying he wants him to stay.”

It seems that Knight has found Rose to have been fairly solid since joining the Toon and he believes that Bruce has made it clear that he would like him to remain with the club.

Do you want Newcastle to sign Rose permanently?

Yes, if we can get him on a cheap deal

TIF Thoughts…

Since joining Newcastle on loan from Spurs in January, Rose has made 12 appearances in all competitions, including 10 in the Premier League.

In those Premier League games, he has earned an average rating of 6.51, which puts him in joint-16th place in the Toon’s squad – so not exactly the best.

However, he does have international and Champions League experience, so if Newcastle could pick him up on a relatively cheap deal, as has been reported, then Rose could be a decent addition to Bruce’s squad next season.

It will be interesting to see if the Toon do sign Rose or if they look for someone else.
