Everton’s former director of communications Alan Myers has recently been discussing how the club will approach their summer transfer plans.

Earlier this month, Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he would be meeting with the board to discuss transfer plans for the summer once the season had concluded (per Sky Sports).

At the time, he also stated his belief that the board was going to ‘support’ himself and the team in the transfer market.

So, in the latest episode of the All Together Now podcast, Myers aired his thoughts on how those meetings would be going between Ancelotti and the board.

He said: “First of all, they’ll listen to Carlo and say, ‘What do you want?’ if they don’t already know that, ‘How are we going to do it?’ and by that, I mean, ‘How are we going to get the finance for that?’ because that’s not easy.

“With what’s going on [in] regards to the pandemic and everything else and just the fact that we’ve spent what we spent, [there has] to be a rethink.

“If I’m [Farhad] Moshiri, I’m demanding a rethink because, clearly, he’s spent a lot of money and it hasn’t worked. So, he must ask that question, ‘Right, hang on a minute, we can’t keep doing this.’

“The other thing, of course, is how you get rid of the players that you don’t want, because that’s a tough job. That’s actually tougher than bringing players in.”

TIG Thoughts…

Seemingly, Myers believes the club’s owner Farhad Moshiri may want to see a change in strategy from the one which saw the club spend £107.91m in the transfer market last summer.

Do you think Farhad Moshiri will be demanding a change in transfer strategy?

Yes, he's got to

No, not yet

With the club having endured their worst finishing position in the Premier League since the 2003/04 season this term (per Transfermarkt), then perhaps a rethink is what is needed.
