Crystal Palace are looking to replace Roy Hodgson with the current Burnley boss Sean Dyche, according to a report from the Mirror.

It was reported last week that Hodgson was set to hold crunch talks with the club’s hierarchy regarding his future (as per the Daily Mail). The Eagles had lost seven in a row heading into Sunday’s draw with Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur and it’s understood that a combination of their poor run of form and the rumoured disagreement between the 72-year-old and those upstairs with regards to the summer recruitment plans could see the two parties part company.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Dyche, the man the club are said to be eyeing up to take the top job at Selhurst Park, guided his Burnley side to a very respectful top-half finish. The Clarets finished 11 points and four places ahead of the south London club in the Premier League this season.

TIF Thoughts…

The 49-year-old has been in the hotseat at Turf Moor since October 2012 and his current contract has until June 2022 to run (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). He has taken charge of Burnley on 347 occasions to date, winning 132, drawing 93 and losing 122 to date.

Based on the reported disconnect between Hodgson and Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, it seems clear there is a chance the former England boss could leave the club this summer. As far as Dyche is concerned, despite limited resources, his Burnley team have managed to achieve a very comfortable mid-table finish and it may be interesting to see whether he can push on at a club with more resources.
