On the latest episode of The Football Show podcast, John Giles has been raving about Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish and suggested that he could easily play for the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool in the future.

The young midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months, and with Dean Smith’s side looking close to relegation at this moment in time, you would imagine that a summer move is likely.

Who scored Villa's goal in their 1-0 win against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014/15 Premier League season?

Here’s what the former Leeds United man had to say about the 24-year-old midfielder:

“When I’ve seen Grealish on the ball, and I think that there are a few players from Villa [who] should be taking up a position to receive it and they’re not doing it. So he has to hang on to it, then he gets a foul. He does spot the right ball to give when the players make the right movements for him. Good players just make it easy for each other and he doesn’t have those players around him.

“When I try to judge a player like Grealish, [I think] what would he be like in Manchester City or Manchester United or indeed Liverpool, for that matter? I think he’d be very good.”

He later goes on to suggest that:

“In my opinion, if you put him in the Manchester United team or the Liverpool team, or the Manchester City team, I think he has the quality to really, really be able to live with those players and play well.”

TIF Thoughts…

With Grealish currently valued at £27.45 million by Transfermarkt, he could represent an expensive option for any of these clubs in the upcoming transfer window. Villa will no doubt be hoping that they can stave off relegation and then perhaps they are not forced to sell him for lower than his market value.

Do you agree that Grealish could play for a top-four side?

Either way though, it seems as if Giles firmly believes that the Englishman would thrive in a better side, which is no surprise when you consider that he has contributed seven goals and six assists so far in the Premier League this season; averaging a superb 7.21 rating (per Whoscored).
