Arsenal have been looking at the Stade de Reims defender Axel Disasi, according to Charles Watts.

Speaking on a recent video, filmed for his YouTube channel, the Arsenal correspondent for Goal.com revealed that the Gunners are considering a move for the player and he went on to reveal what he believes it would cost the North London giants to bring the player to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Watts said: “Axel Disasi, another French, young defender, probably available from Stade de Reims for about €13m. Again, attracting a lot of interest, [there’s] clubs in England looking at him. Southampton have been looking at him, Everton, Wolves, also lots of interest from abroad in him as well. He is another player they have been looking at, and Stade de Reims are well aware that Arsenal are looking at him as well.”

TIF Thoughts…

Disasi is 22 years old. His preferred position is at centre-back but he is also able to play at right-back. His current contract with the Ligue 1 outfit is due to expire at the end of next season which could explain why they may be open to letting him leave this summer.

According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the French top-flight throughout the 2019/20 campaign was 6.84/10 which, when you consider his age, you could argue is a very respectable one. Disasi’s value is said to be £6.48m at present (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) but according to the journalist, his current employers are looking for a figure of approximately €13m (£11.8m).

Arsenal announced last month that David Luiz will be staying on for another season and that Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares would be joining the club on permanent deals (via Arsenal.com), therefore it could be argued that, with William Saliba also set to feature next season, Mikel Arteta’s priority may not be spending on a central defender unless there are to be some departures.
