Leeds are interested in signing Liverpool defender Yasser Larouci, according to Goal.

The 19-year-old is said to be looking for a way out of Anfield with a view to playing more first-team football and it is understood that along with their Championship rivals Brentford, Marcelo Bielsa’s side are keen on the Frenchman who after lengthy discussions with the Reds it has been decided he will need to move on to fulfil his ambitions.

According to the report, Leeds United are one of the clubs ‘at the head of the queue’ with regards to landing the left-back.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

Liverpool signed the player from Le Havre in France back in 2017 but Larouci has now entered the final year of his contract. Goal.com does go on to say, however, that the Merseyside giants are likely to include buy-back and sell-on clauses in any deal agreed with the defender’s next club.

TIF Thoughts…

Stuart Dallas has played at left-back for Leeds on 17 occasions this season with Ezgjan Alioski occupying that role 13 times. Barry Douglas, another left-back option that Marcelo Bielsa currently has at his disposal, has less than a year remaining on his current contract and it is unclear what the future holds for the Scottish defender, therefore it could be a position Bielsa has identified as one that needs further strengthening.

Larouci only made his Liverpool debut in January and has been limited to just two senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s men this season. In the youngster, Leeds could well be getting an exciting prospect who could be on the verge of breaking through for the Premier League champions, but for the time being at least, he remains a very inexperienced player at the highest level.
