Some Celtic fans have been talking about the club’s recent statement regarding the start of next season.
Last weekend, Celtic released a statement which asked the SPFL to produce the fixture list for the 2020/21 Premiership season ‘as soon as possible’.
The statement also revealed that the club had been given a target starting date of 1st August, with players hoping to return to training a week on Thursday.
Many Celtic fans flocked to this information after Sky Sports shared news of their demands on Twitter. They talked about it and the club’s potential march towards a potential 10th Premiership title in a row next season. Here is how the Hoops fans reacted:
As we await the next meltdown, let the games begin………..

Should the 2020-21 Premiership season start in August?
Absolutely!
No, can't do it
Going to be a great laugh next year. Celtic doing the 10 in a row and watching the new rangers crowd explode with rage and hate, can’t wait ????????

Seems like a reasonable request to me. Get the fixture list out ASAP and put to bed anymore selfish clubs making hollow threats about legal action. Let’s move on and get the 10inarow sorted??

Celtic were awarded the Premiership title two weeks ago after the league was ended by the SPFL. Hearts were also relegated as a result (via BBC Sport).
Recently, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell was part of an SPFL delegation that had a meeting with Scottish government minister Joe FitzPatrick. The idea of the meeting was to discuss when football in the country can resume and how sports, in general, can emerge out of the lockdown because of the pandemic.
While that shows that Peter Lawwell is directly involved in the potential resumption of the game in Scotland, Celtic fans didn’t hide their delight that the next season may start soon.

The Hoops were 13 points clear at the top of the table before the Premiership was suspended back in March. They had also won the League Cup and reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup. This shows that they were certainly a dominating force in the Scottish top flight in the 2019/20 season.
And it is no surprise, therefore, that Celtic fans want to carry forward this dominance and are excited by the prospect of starting next season on time.
