Some Celtic fans have been talking about a tweet involving Kristoffer Ajer that recently emerged on social media.

The Celtic Twitter account recently tweeted about Ajer and the post concerned his potential nomination for the club’s Player of the Year award in the 2019/20 campaign. The post asked Celtic fans to vote if they think that the Norwegian should the named as the club’s best player this season.

Celtic fans flocked to this tweet, but many weren’t too happy with it and they made their anger with the defender clear. Some said that he doesn’t deserve the accolade at all.

Is Ajer worthy enough of staying at Celtic?

Ajer has been a regular for the Hoops in the 2019/20 campaign. The defender has made 49 appearances in all competitions, while playing 28 times in the Premiership. Apart from having regularly played at centre-back, he has also occasionally filled in at right-back for the Hoops. In the Premiership, he scored three times and assisted twice (via Transfermarkt).

While these numbers aren’t bad, some more fans made their disappointment with Ajer clear.

One reason why Celtic fans may not be too keen on Ajer could be because his agent has already told Norwegian TV agency NTB (via Sporten) that the defender will leave Parkhead in the summer, after suggesting that Ajer will not sign a new deal at the club.

As a result, Ajer has been linked with a move to AC Milan. The same report also linked the 22-year-old with moves to Leicester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

Judging by the transfer speculation around him, one can see why Celtic fans don’t have a particular liking for Ajer, so perhaps a move away could be on the cards.
