Some Celtic fans have been talking about the latest tweet that Superscoreboard recently relayed on social media.
Superscoreboard’s latest tweet concerned the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award, revealing the nominees for the award. The list included two Celtic players in Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor. Alfredo Morelos made the list, while Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland was also shortlisted.
This post caught the attention of many Celtic fans. They flocked to it and said that Edouard deserves to win the accolade.

The 2019/20 Premiership campaign saw Edouard play 27 games for the Hoops. He found the back of the net 21 times and racked up as many as 12 assists (via Transfermarkt).
As for McGregor, he was also amongst the goals and assists for Celtic. The Scotsman played 30 Premiership games and directly contributed to 16 goals from midfield. In all competitions, he played a part in a total of 23 goals (13 goals, 10 assists).
This suggests that McGregor and Edouard certainly enjoyed impressive campaigns. However, many other Celtic fans criticised the post for including Morelos’ name in the list. They made their displeasure for the Ibrox man clear.

Numbers-wise, Morelos enjoyed a good season himself. The striker scored 12 Premiership goals and got three assists, while in all competitions, he directly contributed to 39 goals in 46 games for Rangers (via Transfermarkt).
While his stats are impressive, McGregor contributed to more goals in the Premiership than Morelos, despite being a midfielder, and Edouard reached almost double Morelos’ goalscoring tally.
So perhaps there is a higher chance that one of the two Celtic players will win this accolade. Hoops fans certainly believe that this should be the case.
