Supporters of West Ham United have been left talking by a report which has emerged on the Hammers’ loanee striker Jordan Hugill.
According to Football.london, the forward, who is currently on loan with Queens Park Rangers, could be considered as a candidate to be the Irons’ number nine next season (via @westham_gossip).
The report also suggests that Xande Silva could be considered as another potential avenue for David Moyes to go down.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the English striker that has been touted to be in line for the number nine shirt has already expressed his desire to prove himself in the top flight.
West Ham secured Hugill’s services in the January transfer window of 2018 when they paid around £10million to Preston North End for him (per BBC).
Since his arrival at the London Stadium, the 27-year-old striker has made just three appearances for the club in which he has neither scored nor assisted (per Transfermarkt).
After the report was shared to West Ham supporters on social media, though, they aired their reactions to the idea of Hugill being the club’s number nine.

During his current spell on loan with QPR, Hugill has bagged a respectable 11 goals and one assist over 35 appearances in the Championship (per WhoScored).
However, that did not seem to be enough to convince West Ham fans of his talents.

Would you be pleased if one of Xande Silva or Jordan Hugill was West Ham's number nine next season?Yes, wouldn't be that badNo, that would be terrible |
Hugill’s fairly respectable goals return may be slightly let down by his average rating, however, as he has picked up a 6.63/10 average rating in England’s second tier this term.
While he has enjoyed the second-most shots per game in QPR’s squad on average (2.2), he has also had the third-most poor controls per outing (2.3).
Hugill is not a Premier League player and will not become one. End of.

In the words of a QPR supporting friend. “He works hard and makes a nuisance of himself, but he does not put away enough chances and is at best a mid-lower level Championship player”. Let’s hope that is not the level we expect.

However, while most supporters were against the idea, some fans felt that Hugill may not make a bad number nine.
hopefully he will get a chance along with xande silva

That’s what I like to hear

As can be seen in the responses from the majority of West Ham supporters, though, they would be against the idea of the English striker leading the Irons’ line next season.
