Some Celtic fans have been discussing the latest news involving Kristoffer Ajer that emerged on social media recently.

Former Celtic defender Vidar Riseth recently talked about Ajer and his links with a move to Serie A giants Milan.

Riseth called Ajer a ‘modern centre-back’ and said that the Norwegian has ‘a lot of potential’ to improve. He also claimed that clubs can pay ‘crazy’ money for players like Ajer right now. But the former defender tipped the Hoops to demand about ‘£20m – maybe even £30m’ for Ajer.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

He said: “When the time comes for Kris to go, I think Celtic will be able to demand £20m – maybe even £30m.

“That’s the level we are talking about now. Kris is still only 22 and already has a lot of experience. He has played in Europe and he has been captain of Norway.

“That kind of quality comes at a cost. We will see but I believe he will stay at Celtic.”

Would £20 million be enough for Ajer?

Riseth also went on to confirm that Milan are indeed interested in Ajer, saying that the Rossoneri have watched him in the past. The article involving Riseth’s comments was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record and this caught the attention of many Celtic fans. They made their opinions clear.

While some of these Celtic fans made their price for Ajer known, some others had a different opinion about what Riseth had to say about the Hoops defender.

Reports linking Ajer with a move to Milan have indeed said that the Serie A side have been left impressed by what they’ve seen from the defender. They have also reported interest from Premier League side Leicester City.

The defender made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys in the 2019/20 season. He also played 28 Premiership games and even played at right-back (via Transfermarkt).

The fact that Ajer is a regular at the back for Celtic and is a versatile player shows why he is an important player for the Hoops. With the club looking to win a tenth Premiership title in a row next season, a player like Ajer can be crucial for Neil Lennon’s men and keeping him at Parkhead should be a priority.
