Many Celtic fans have been expressing their anger at the latest tweet that BBC journalist Tom English recently put out on social media.

English recently quote-tweeted a post from BBC Sport Scotland, which said that Hearts, Partick Thistle, and Stranraer have officially been relegated as they couldn’t get enough votes in favour of a potential league reconstruction in the Scottish game. The tweet confirmed that the reconstruction could get only 16 votes out of a total 42.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

English shared this, calling it ‘wretched business’ and that ‘no club’ deserves to be treated like Hearts, Partick Thistle and Stranraer. The journalist said that this is ‘plain wrong’.

But English’s tweet caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who weren’t pleased with what he had to say.

Is Tom English biased against the SPFL?

Of course he is

These Celtic fans clearly seem satisfied by the decision, while English is frustrated and angry that the three clubs are having to sustain relegation.

A similar sort of vote had taken place when Celtic’s Old Firm rivals had proposed to launch an independent investigation into the running of the SPFL. But that vote was turned down as well, as the resolution couldn’t get enough votes from the Scottish clubs. Following this, Celtic were crowned the Premiership champions after an SPFL board meeting.

But English’s tweet didn’t leave too many Celtic fans pleased. Some more of them flocked to the journalist’s tweet.

English’s tweet shows that he isn’t happy with how the SPFL has gone about this situation, but Celtic fans think the opposite. They call it a democratic decision and they’re right, considering things like the reconstruction can only be decided by a common vote from all clubs.

Celtic fans are bound to side with the SPFL since they were the ones to hand the Hoops the title last month, and given English’s vocal opposition to the (democratic) decisions that have led to the Hoops’ latest league triumph, it is no surprise that fans have used this opportunity to poke fun at the pundit.
