Many Celtic supporters have flocked to Twitter after Odsonne Edouard took to the social media platform to congratulate his teammate Jeremie Frimpong on winning the club’s Young Player of the Year award.
The news about the Dutch defender was shared via Celtic’s official account and Edouard quoted the tweet with a couple of emojis and tagged the 19-year-old right-back. Despite the post being intended as a tribute to the young player, the replies were hijacked by supporters begging the 22-year-old striker to sign a contract extension in Glasgow.
Here is a sample of the replies.
Stay FOREVER Eddy ?

Do you think Odsonne Edouard will still be a Celtic player at the start of next season?
Yes
No
Based on the above responses, it’s clear that these Celtic fans are desperate to see the forward commit his long-term future to their club. Edouard was signed from the French champions Paris Saint-Germain back in July 2018 in a deal reportedly worth £9.27m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
In 126 appearances for the Hoops, the player has scored 60 goals and provided his teammates with 31 assists. Therefore, it seems understandable why he is such a popular figure amongst the Parkhead faithful. These fans continued to plead with the French Guiana-born attacker to stay.
Please stay x

More often than not, when Edouard posts on his social media accounts, the replies are likely to be inundated by supporters begging him to sign a contract extension. He’s been linked with a move south of the border to Newcastle United in recent times, according to the Mail on Sunday -print edition (17/5/2020) as cited by the Daily Record. However, there has been no indication that talks between the two clubs are ongoing.
