The statement also relayed comments by EFL chairman Rick Parry, who stated: “With Sky Bet Championship clubs set to return to full contact training later this week and following Saturday’s government announcement, we are edging closer towards resuming the 2019/20 EFL season. We have therefore today consulted with the board’s Championship directors and agreed to fixtures restarting behind closed doors on 20 June.”

In reaction to the news, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their delight at the thought of seeing their team back in action.

With Birmingham currently occupying 16th place in the Championship, eight points above the relegation zone and nine behind the play-off places, barring either a remarkable late surge up the Championship table or a catastrophic slide into the relegation scrap, it would appear that the club are set for a distinctly average finish to the season.
