Celtic defender Jack Hendry has reportedly attracted interest from Belgian club KV Oostende, who are ‘keen’ on signing the central defender.
The Daily Record has recently reported that Hendry is now set for another loan stint away from Parkhead, with Oostende currently ‘keen’ to have the defender on loan. The report states that the Belgian club have expressed their interest in acquiring Hendry for the next season.
The same report reveals that Oostende are currently looking to rebuild their current side and are owned by the same group that controls English Championship side Barnsley.
It is said that Hendry is currently doing pre-season training with the Bhoys and hasn’t given up his hopes of making it to the first-team under Neil Lennon.
The former Dundee man was loaned out to Australian side Melbourne City in January 2020, but after playing just twice for the club, he suffered a knee injury and required surgery.
Hendry is currently valued at £720k by Transfermarkt.
Should Celtic sell Hendry permanently?
Yes, he should be sold
No, we should keep him
TIF Thoughts…
As a Celtic player, Hendry has made 27 appearances in all competitions but the 2019-20 season saw him play just a single game and that appearance came in the League Cup. This shows that he is pretty low down the pecking order at Parkhead currently.
The club has been linked with moves for Scott McKenna (The Cynic podcast via ReadCeltic) and Kiki Kouyate. This shows that while they may need a new central defender, Hendry may already be out of Lennon’s plans at Parkhead. He is 25 and Celtic can still get a good value from a potential sale. So instead of loaning him out, selling him permanently could make a lot of sense.
