The Athletic journalist Tim Spiers has been discussing the new contract that is in the pipeline for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ French defender Willy Boly.
As revealed in a report on The Athletic’s website on Sunday, the Frenchman is set to sign a new ‘long-term agreement’ with the club.
Boly’s current deal with Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit is set to expire in the summer of next year and the report stated that the 29-year-old has ‘attracted attention from across Europe’.
So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View Podcast, Spiers discussed the new deal for the centre-back.
He said: “He’s one of few that hasn’t penned a new deal fairly recently, and obviously he’s one of many who’s been looked at by other clubs.
“So from what I gather, he’s ready to commit his future to the club, sign a new, improved deal and that should be happening pretty soon.
“As I tried to highlight in [Sunday’s] piece about Willy Boly, he’s so important to this team.
“So, fantastic news. Like I said, my information is that he’s keen to sign a new deal and he’s happy to stay at the club.
“And for me, he’s one of Wolves’ big secrets really; he’s one of the best defenders in the Premier League.”
