Aston Villa journalist Gregg Evans has recently shared an update on Jack Grealish and his future as a Villa player.

This comes after Evans recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman podcast to discuss the biggest talking points surrounding the club at the moment.

Who scored Villa's goal in their 1-0 win against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014/15 Premier League season?

When asked about Grealish’s future at Villa Park and any potential move away from the club this summer, Evans shared some news on the matter.

He said: “It certainly feels like his time is coming towards the end now. We’ve seen in the past, Villa’s current owners have dug their heels in when Tottenham Hotspur came calling for Jack Grealish in 2018.

“It feels like it’s a different story now, obviously if Villa get relegated, we know that Jack Grealish will be on the move, there’s no way that the club will be able to keep hold of him then and he will probably move on to the highest bidder.

“Obviously we know Manchester United are interested, but if Villa do get relegated, then other clubs will come into the scenario. It all really depends on how Villa end this season and whether they can survive or not.

“The Manchester United interest is very strong. It’s also my understanding that there are other clubs interested, if Villa actually get relegated, that might open up the potential option for some clubs on the continent. Also, my understanding is that Jack Grealish wouldn’t necessarily be averse to moving away. It’s just something that he will consider at the end of the season, obviously, he’s just keeping his options open.”

If Villa do get relegated, would you be okay with Grealish leaving?

Yes, it's understandable

Yes, it's understandable

No, he should stay no matter what

No, he should stay no matter what

Grealish has been Villa’s top performer this season with his performances in his 28 Premier League appearances so far this year resulting in him being awarded a season rating of 7.29/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

As Evans mentioned in the podcast, Villa’s survival in the Premier League this season will likely be a very significant factor in whether or not Grealish will leave the club or not.

This is because the Englishman has clearly shown throughout this season with his performances that he is far too good to be playing in the Championship next season and would assumingly prefer to play in the top flight.
