Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Belgian defensive midfielder Leander Dendoncker has been linked with Lazio by a report in Italy.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Sport Witness, the Serie A outfit are keen on the 25-year-old but believe Wolves’ asking price is ‘still too high’.

The report suggests that the Old Gold value their Belgian at around the €25m (£22.4m) mark.

However, Lazio are supposedly hoping that Jorge Mendes ‘will help’ move the transfer along as he has close ties with both the Old Gold and Le Aquile.

Not only are the Stadio Olimpico club keen on the signing of the midfielder, but he is ‘in the front row’ of their summer transfer plans.

Dendoncker currently has a market value of £20.25m, according to Transfermarkt.

TIF Thoughts…

This season, the Belgian has been a prominent feature for Nuno Espirito Santo as he has featured in all 29 of Wolves’ Premier League outings (per WhoScored).

Over his 26 starts and three substitute appearances for the Old Gold in the league this term, Dendoncker has been in relatively impressive form, too.

For Wolves, the 25-year-old has been the 10th-best performer in the league with a relatively respectable 6.68/10 average rating.

Would you be willing to let Leander Dendoncker leave the club for around the £22.5million mark?

No, he's worth more

Yes, that's enough

Dendoncker has been slightly less impressive in the Europa League for Wolves, as he has picked up a 6.62/10 average rating which has made him the 15th-best performer in the squad.

However, he has still been a prominent feature in the competition having made nine appearances in the final tournament stages this term.

So, perhaps it seems a little unlikely that Wolves would be willing to let such a prominent feature of their team go for just over £2m above his market value.
