Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg recently posted a tweet featuring an image of himself at Southampton’s Staplewood training ground which has caught the attention of plenty of Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

Hojbjerg has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent months. As far back as January, Sky Sports reported that the Danish international is one of Tottenham’s “top targets” for the 2020 summer transfer window.

Some Spurs supporters tried to convince Hojbjerg to join Tottenham in response to this tweet. One Tottenham fan replied to this post to laud the North London club’s training facilities, while another Spurs supporter took this opportunity to state that there would be “lots of smiling at Spurs” for Hojbjerg if he made the move to North London.

Some Tottenham fans appeared to be more confident that Hojbjerg will become a Spurs player in response to the midfielder’s recent tweet, with some Spurs fans declaring that they will see Hojbjerg soon.

Do you think that Hojbjerg will be a Spurs player next season?

One Tottenham fan seemed to question why the Danish midfielder is at Southampton’s training ground instead of Tottenham’s ‘Hotspur Way’ training ground in the image that he has shared.

Hojbjerg has earned an average overall rating of 6.82 from his 28 Premier League appearances for Southampton this term according to WhoScored. This makes him the Saints’ third-highest rated player in the league this season

The Danish midfielder has made an average of 2.4 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per league game this season, while he has also completed an average of 56 passes and three long balls per Premier League game during the 2019/20 season.

In the Premier League this season, only three Tottenham players have made more tackles per game than Hojbjerg, while only two Spurs players have made more interceptions per game than the Southampton man. Meanwhile, only three Tottenham players have completed more passes per game and only three Spurs players have completed more long balls per game than the midfielder.

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that it appears as though Hojbjerg has shown that he could have plenty to offer Spurs if he joined the North London club and it may be understandable why these Spurs fans seem excited by the prospect of him joining their club.
