Wolverhampton Wanderers could be set to miss out on transfer target Mohammed Salisu, with French club Rennes having tabled a bid for the Real Valladolid player (RMC Sport). It was reported by El Desmarque last month that the Old Gold were one of a number of clubs interested in bringing the 21-year-old to the Premier League.

Salisu is a Ghanaian central defender who has made 27 appearances in La Liga for the Spanish club (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). Currently, he is valued at £9.9m, which is more than the offer Rennes have reportedly made of €8m (£7.2m). Therefore, we may yet see the Ligue 1 outfit have their bid rebuffed.

To kick off this quiz on the goings-on with the Old Gold last week, which player were Juventus touted to have a strong interest in signing?

According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the Spanish top flight this season currently stands at 6.77/10, which doesn’t seem particularly inspiring.

The other Premier League clubs who were said to be interested in the player were Southampton and Watford. Given Wolves’ superior position in the Premier League and the fact they have a strong chance of qualifying for Europe again this season, you could be forgiven for thinking Molineux would be a more attractive destination for the player if he is to move on.

It is not known whether or not Nuno Espirito Santo will be in the market this summer for a central defender, or if the club still maintain an interest in Salisu, in particular. However, if they do, it appears Rennes are winning the race for his signature, having already tabled a formal bid, according to RMC Sport.
