West Ham United manager David Moyes is thought to be unhappy with the issue surrounding Jeremy Ngakia’s contract at the London club.

This comes after it was recently published in a report by the Daily Mail that Moyes is understood to be ‘frustrated’ as he believes the issue is not financially based while he has also proved he is ‘willing to give the youngster a run in his first-team as long as his performances merit it’.

The report also added that West Ham can ‘still demand compensation for Ngakia should he join another English side as he has been at their academy since he was 14 but a move to the Bundesliga would see them pick up a moderate compensation fee of around £260,000’.

With the defender’s current contract at the London club reportedly ending at the end of the month, Ngakia has apparently refused an offer from the club to add a month’s extension to his deal that would see him be available to play in the Hammers’ upcoming Premier League fixtures from July onwards.

Before the current season was temporarily suspended due to the impact of the current global pandemic, the 19-year-old had managed to play 90 minutes in all of West Ham’s previous three Premier League matches (per Transfermarkt).

Ngakia’s performances in his four total appearances in the league this season resulted in the Englishman being given a season rating of 6.6/10, making him West Ham’s 17th-highest-rated player in this campaign (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

If Moyes doesn’t believe that the financial side of things has much to do with Ngakia’s supposed contract rejection and that he has reportedly assured the defender of his place in the team, then it’s understandable why he is supposedly annoyed by this situation.

The club will be wanting to sort this situation out soon so they can focus on their upcoming Premier League fixtures and try and avoid relegation.
