It has been confirmed that Spurs will now face Norwich City in a friendly on Friday 12 June, ahead of the Premier League restart next week.

The Telegraph confirmed that Jose Mourinho has arranged a friendly against Daniel Farke’s side for this upcoming Friday, as he steps up his plans for Spurs’ re-opening fixture against his old side Manchester United on Friday 19 June. The report suggests that: “Both clubs have played in-house 11 v 11 matches since practice matches were granted during Step 2 of Project Restart but the fixture is one of the first arranged for Premier League opposition to face each other.”

Spurs currently occupy eighth position in the top-flight and will be hoping for a strong finish to their campaign, as they eye up a top-four spot. Mourinho confirmed recently that all of his players who were injured before the enforced break are now back fit for the Premier League’s resumption, so the Lilywhites will no doubt be confident of an upturn in form. The Canaries, meanwhile, are rock bottom of the league and will need a similar upturn in form if they are to save themselves from relegation.

TIF Thoughts…

Although facing the bottom of the league may seem like strange preparation for an important fixture against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side, Norwich have proved tough competition for Spurs so far this season. Their first fixture against the Canaries ended in a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road, before Spurs secured a 2-1 win in the home fixture, thanks to a late goal from Heung-Min Son. However, Daniel Farke’s side would get their revenge in the FA Cup in March, as they progressed to the quarter-finals after a penalty shootout victory.

The match may well also give Mourinho the chance to look at two of Norwich’s brightest young prospects; Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell, both of whom have been linked with a move to the Lilywhites in the past. Hopefully, for the North London club, they can produce a good display against Norwich this Friday, whilst also ensuring that everybody stays fit for the important upcoming fixture against Manchester United.
