Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest report linking their club with a move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in the summer transfer window.

According to the Daily Express (via Ricky Sacks), the 33-year-old striker remains a target for Jose Mourinho, despite him recently signing a contract extension with Frank Lampard’s side. Spurs were regularly linked with a move for the former Arsenal man in the January transfer window, but were unable to secure a deal to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

So far this season, the World Cup winner has made just nine appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea, contributing two goals and averaging a 6.69/10 rating for his performances (per WhoScored). One of these goals came in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against the Lilywhites back in February, with the forward earning an impressive 8.38 rating for his display (per WhoScored).

Would Giroud be a good signing for Spurs?

The report from the Express suggests that Giroud’s attitude to staying with the Blues could change if he does not look likely to get games next year, and with Lampard’s side having reportedly agreed a deal with RB Leipzig for Timo Werner ahead of next season, it is perhaps fair to suggest that the 33-year-old would move further down the pecking order at Chelsea should the German striker arrive, considering his impressive goal record from this season.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Giroud can be seen in the tweets below.

Other Spurs fans are seemingly less keen on a move for the Frenchman.

Overall, it seems as if a move for Giroud has split the Spurs supporters, and if Chelsea do demand £7 million as the report from the Express suggests, then the Lilywhites may be better off looking for a cheaper, younger option elsewhere.
