In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho was full of praise for Harry Kane, after the England captain hit his first goal of 2020 in the win against West Ham.

The Portuguese manager was full of praise for the 26-year-old in his post-match interview with Geoff Shreeves, which can be heard on the Sky Sports Football podcast which covered the Spurs win against the Hammers. Kane impressed in his performance on Tuesday night, earning a 7.41 rating after his goal sealed the three points (per WhoScored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Mourinho had to say about his striker’s performance:

“I’m happy for him because, better headlines and the better feeling for him, he worked phenomenally, even in lockdown. He did amazing work in his house to recover and then with us to get in the condition to help the team, which he is doing, and I’m happy with lots of things today.”

TIF Thoughts…

Kane has certainly done well to get himself back fit, considering it had been suggested earlier in the year that his hamstring injury could lead him to miss the European Championships this summer (per Telegraph), although the tournament has of course been rearranged for next summer due to the current viral outbreak. As Mourinho suggests, a lot of his recovery work was done at home, which is testament to the England captain’s impressive work rate and willingness to get back fit and playing.

Does Kane deserve praise for getting back fit?

After the forward’s disappointing display against Manchester United, it was good to see him back on form against West Ham earlier this week and hopefully, for Spurs fans, that goal will give him a big confidence boost going into the remaining fixtures.

The Lilywhites now have an extended break before facing Sheffield United at Bramall Lane next Thursday, where they will, of course, be hoping to pick up an important three points in the context of the race for a Champions League spot.
