In his latest Q&A session with Spurs fans for Football.london, Alasdair Gold has commented on the transfer rumour linking the Lilywhites with a move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

It was suggested by various media outlets last week that Jose Mourinho was keen on reuniting with the French centre-back this summer, having signed him from Saint-Etienne during his time at Stamford Bridge. This led to a Spurs fan asking Gold for his opinion on the potential signing, to which he replied (per Football.london):

“There will be interest there. Mourinho signed him for Chelsea and will know him inside out and at 25 there’s plenty to work with when it comes to Zouma. However, for me, with three years left on his deal and Chelsea not likely to be desperate to deal with Spurs, any fee would be massive and something Tottenham would struggle with this year.”

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

TIF Thoughts…

So far this season, the 25-year-old has made 22 appearances in the top-flight for Frank Lampard’s side, averaging a solid 6.90 rating for his performances (per WhoScored). The Lilywhites are arguably in need of defensive reinforcements when you consider that they have kept just four clean sheets in the Premier League so far this season, whilst club stalwart Jan Vertonghen also looks set to leave on a free transfer later this month when his contract expires.

Do you think Spurs will make a move for Zouma this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Therefore, it is not a surprise to see Spurs being linked with the French international, however, Gold feels that any potential fee for the £25.2 million-rated man would prove too much this summer, so it is perhaps hard to see him being reunited with Mourinho at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium anytime soon. It will be interesting to see if the North London club does make a move for the former Everton loanee in the summer window, and how much he would end up costing should a deal be agreed.
