Southampton are reportedly one of the clubs keeping tabs on Serbian sensation Dejan Zukic.
The Daily Star recently reported that the Saints are currently keeping tabs on Zukic. However, they aren’t the only club in the race for the 19-year-old, as Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Leicester City are also looking at the midfielder. The report claims that Zukic, who plies his trade with Vojvodina Novi Sad, has attracted scouts from many clubs and he has already drawn comparisons to Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Italian giants Inter and Greek club Olympiacos have also made enquiries for the young midfielder, with Southampton also very much in the chase.
Despite being just 19, Zukic is already a part of his club’s first-team. The 2019/20 season has seen him make 28 appearances in all competitions; in the league, Zukic has scored four goals in 25 appearances. The fact that he has scored those four goals while playing 586 league minutes – a goal every 146.5 minutes – shows why clubs might be after him (via Transfermarkt).
Do you want Southampton to sign Zukic?
Yes, of course
No, let others have him
Zukic has also made six appearances for the Serbian Under-19s side, scoring one goal.
TIF Thoughts…
Zukic’s numbers are impressive for a 19-year-old and it is no surprise why so many clubs are looking at the chance of signing him. While the report does state that Tottenham are ‘showing the most interest’ in Zukic, Saints fans should be happy that their club are after such a promising youngster.
His current value stands at only £563k – a fairly affordable fee. So if the opportunity presents itself, signing Zukic should be a no-brainer for Southampton.
