Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a recent report on Erik Lamela, which suggests that the Argentinian has nine games to convince Jose Mourinho he has a future at the club.
According to Football Insider (via Talking THFC), the former Roma man must impress his 57-year-old manager in the remaining Premier League fixtures, amidst a growing feeling that he could leave the Lilywhites should the club receive a suitable transfer offer for him this summer. Spurs signed the Argentinian international in 2013 and he has gone on to make 214 appearances for the Lilywhites, contributing 33 goals and 47 assists (per Transfermarkt).
Injuries have regularly disrupted the winger’s time with Spurs, with the 28-year-old missing 12 games earlier in the season due to a hamstring problem (per Transfermarkt). So far this season, Lamela has featured 17 times in the top flight, contributing just two goals and one assist, while averaging a 6.68/10 rating for his performances (per WhoScored).
Would you sell Lamela this summer?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest report on Lamela can be seen in the tweets below.
Sounds good. But I would keep him mainly to provide depth and competition. He’s poor in the final 1/3 when it comes decision making specifically, but he’s so energetic. He can turn a game on its head. He needs more time with Jose to realize his full potential (if he can stay fit)

Plenty of Spurs fans suggested that they would be surprised to see him feature in all nine remaining games without suffering an injury.

Others suggested that he will probably play very well for the rest of the season but then suffer another long-term injury setback.

Meanwhile, some Spurs fans simply suggested that he is not good enough to be a regular starter at the North London club.
Stealing a wage far too long

It will be interesting to see how Lamela performs in the remaining fixtures and whether or not the Lilywhites do decide to cash in on him this summer if there are any interested parties.
