Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to some footage of Andy Carroll scoring a trademark headed goal during training. The clip was shared on Twitter via the club’s official account.

Carroll left St. James’ Park back in January 2011 for Liverpool in a deal reportedly worth £36.9m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). He later left Anfield for West Ham United, joining the Londoners permanently for a fee of £15.75m in the summer of 2013. However, having struggled with the injuries throughout his time in the capital, he was allowed to leave and returned to the North-East to join up with Steve Bruce’s side.

To kick things off, who is this man from the 2009/10 season?

Here is how a sample of the Magpies faithful have responded to the post.

Do you think Andy Carroll can have a positive influence in the remainder of this campaign?

These fans wasted no time in referring to the player’s poor injury record and joked about his ability to stay fit. Since his return, the 31-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Toon and despite not having netted this season, he has provided his teammates with four assists (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

DeAndre Yedlin has received some praise for his cross into the penalty area from which the striker scored. In our view, regardless of your thoughts on Carroll, if fit and considering given his physical presence, there is no doubt he can be a useful tool to Steve Bruce for the remainder of the campaign.
