Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest announcement from the club.
This comes after the official Newcastle Twitter account shared a post on their page announcing that striker Andy Carroll had signed a one-year contract extension at St. James’ Park.
The club added that it was ‘great’ to have Carroll ‘on board’ for next year.
The post also contained an image of Carroll in action for the Magpies during their recent 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
This then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on this latest piece of news from the club.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:
?? #NUFC are pleased to confirm that Andy Carroll has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
Great to have you on board, @AndyTCarroll! ?

Some Newcastle fans were delighted to hear that Carroll would be remaining at the club for another year.
Get in Andy, happy to have you ????

So far this season, the Englishman has made 15 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, providing five assists – but has yet to score a goal for the club since his return.
Get in

Are you pleased with this latest deal from Newcastle?
Yes
No
However, there were some Newcastle fans responding to this news who were not as excited with this latest move from the club as others were.
Should of invested his wages into the academy utter disgrace of a decision and completely shows lack of any ambition

Waste of a squad number!

Other Newcastle fans, on the other hand, took this latest news as a sign that the proposed takeover from Amanda Staveley and her Saudi-based consortium would not be going through.
Surely that means there is no takeover if Andy Carroll is getting a new contract
— BeeAM (@BeeMartians) June 25, 2020
Well that’s the takeover not happening

It appears that this latest news has led to a lot of differing opinions from this group of Newcastle fans.
From looking at Carroll’s goalscoring record for the Magpies this season, it’s understandable why some of them may not be too thrilled to see Carroll stay at the club for another year.
However, it seems strange that some fans would see this new deal for Carroll having any sort of negative impact on the club’s potential takeover, with its fate still very much undecided.
