Newcastle United-focused Twitter account @NUFC360 recently posted a tweet which states that the representatives of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho “have begun negotiations with Newcastle United”.
This post cites France Football as the original source of this alleged news and this comes after the French publication recently published a report discussing the 27-year-old playmaker’s future. France Football has claimed that Coutinho’s future “lies in the Premier League” and in addition to Newcastle, this report claims that Tottenham Hotspur and Everton could also make a move for the playmaker.
This tweet from @NUFC360 has caught the attention of many Toon fans who have been sharing their thoughts on this alleged news.

France Football’s report states that Newcastle’s chances of securing the player’s signature will depend on whether or not the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) successfully complete a takeover of the club. As per the Daily Mail, this group who are reportedly in the process of taking over Newcastle United would become the wealthiest club owners in the Premier League if their Toon takeover attempt is successful.
However, some Magpies fans responded to this tweet to share some scepticism about this alleged transfer news, due to PIF’s attempted takeover not yet being completed.
Club is still under the name of MA, he has gone on record as saying he wont put another penny in. PIF don’t own us, how can we be in negotiations for Coutinho. Stop posting rubbish, accounts like this should be banned from Twitter

is this for real?
— Reyhan (@reyhanfjrn) June 10, 2020
Doubt it but if true then the takeover is done and being kept quite due to lockdown

Negotiating with who? Ashley has said no funds available as he awaits the potential sale of the club and the Saudis can’t do anything till/if the club is sold to them

PIFs Newcastle takeover bid is still awaiting approval from the Premier League and with that in mind, it may be understandable why some Toon fans have shared some scepticism over this alleged transfer news.
