Noel Whelan has told Football Insider that he believes Leeds United will still be looking to sign Che Adams after missing out on the 23-year-old in January.

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

Whelan claims that while he does not think there will be an ‘imminent’ move for Adams, he does believe that the Whites will see him as ‘an option’ regardless of what league they are in.

Victor Orta revealed that Leeds were set to sign the former Birmingham City man only for the deal to be stopped because Adams provided an assist against Leicester City.

Football Insider also claimed in a separate report that Adams could be available for as little as £10m this summer despite the Saints spending £15m on him in the summer of 2019.

Here’s what the 45-year-old had to say in full:

“He has not had too many opportunities at Southampton.

“Before we stopped playing he was getting assists and [Ralph] Hasenhuttl was actually seeing a player that was adding something to Southampton. They were looking after their own interests in January.

“I do not think there will be any imminent move but Leeds will have that one in mind, it is an option.

“They know he is available now and at a cheaper price. Everyone’s value has gone down so it might work out better for Leeds in the long run.”

Would you be happy to go back for Adams in the summer?

TIF Thoughts…

Adams, who is valued at £8.55 million (as per Transfermarkt), has made 22 Premier League appearances for Southampton this season, and he has failed to score a goal in that time, but has provided three assists.

However, during the 2018/19 season, the 23-year-old scored 22 league goals for Birmingham before the Saints signed him.

Leeds are top of the Championship with nine games to go and have a seven-point gap over Fulham – so you would think that they would be confident of securing promotion.

If they do and then make a move for Adams, then questions might have to be raised over his Premier League record.

However, for just £10m, maybe he could be a good investment, and if Adams were to move to Elland Road, Leeds would probably hope that he could replicate his form from the 2018/19 season.
