Rangers are interested in taking Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster on loan, according to The Scottish Sun. The 20-year-old joined Championship side Swansea City on loan in January, for whom he has made 11 appearances and scored four goals (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

The report claims that Brewster is expected to be sent out on loan for the entirety of next season after appearing just three times for the Liverpool first team in the domestic cup competitions prior to moving to Wales on loan.

The forward played for Steven Gerrard whilst he was in charge of the club’s Under-18s and according to the report, the former Reds midfielder has ‘previously spoken of his admiration’ for the player. He also worked alongside Michael Beale, a coach at Ibrox with whom he worked at Chelsea (as per The Scottish Sun).

TIF Thoughts…

Brewster will stay at Swansea for the remainder of the campaign as Steve Cooper’s side look to push for a finish in the play-off positions. In the Championship this season, the striker has averaged a performance rating of 6.87/10 (via WhoScored.com). He has averaged 2.4 shots per game, 1.1 dribbles per game, while his strengths include shooting from distance and dribbling.

Jurgen Klopp has been happy to send some of his younger players north of the border, with Sheyi Ojo, Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent all having signed for Rangers in recent years. Therefore, in our view, a move to Rangers for the £4.86m-rated attacker this summer seems a good option in order for him to continue his development.
