Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has recently provided a positive update about the fitness of Andre Gomes, ahead of the club’s Premier League game against Liverpool.

Ancelotti was recently talking to the official Everton website and he was asked for fitness updates on multiple players. When asked about Gomes, Ancelotti said that the former Barcelona man could feature against Liverpool at the weekend.

He confirmed that Gomes is training with the first team and that he is “not going to have a problem” to feature on Sunday.

Ancelotti also said that the physical condition of the whole team is “good”, in general. The Italian revealed that Fabian Delph and Yerry Mina are doubts to play on Sunday, but they are “close” to resuming training with the first team.

The former Napoli boss also claimed that Theo Walcott can return to training in the next three weeks, after having undergone surgery last week.

TIF Thoughts…

Considering Gomes had suffered a serious ankle injury against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the season, Everton fans should be pleased that he will play for them once again. While he has already played three times in the Premier League since returning from injury, having him back in midfield will be a huge boost for Everton against their Merseyside rivals.

The 26-year-old picked up a decent WhoScored rating of 6.65 last season and Toffees fans can only hope that he replicates that over the remainder of this season.

With the club currently 12th in the Premier League, Gomes could be crucial to potentially helping them seal European football for next season.
